 Dawson City River Tour

Your two-hour Yukon River Tour starts in historic Dawson City.

Before there as a Dawson City, the Tr'ondek Hwech'in Han lived in harmony with the land.

The village of Moosehide is a reminder the traditional Han lifestyle still exists amidst the hustle and bustle of the modern world. Keep your camera ready! At any time moose, bears, eagles or other wildlife may make an appearance.

Thrill at the opportunity to visit Fort Reliance
where you will see a rustic cabin and have first-hand experience with a real, working dog team. Learn from your guide how to operate and run a dog team.

As you tour further down river, keep an eye out for "fishwheels".
You will likely see the bountiful salmon harvest, so important to the Han way of life for thousands of years. All summer, First Nation fishers greet one salmon run after another in a cultural tradition that still survives.

At Dog Island, you will have an opportunity to stretch your legs, savour some tea and bannock, and explore the Taylor family's traditional fish camp. Education was never so much fun!

The return journey upriver to Dawson City is an opportunity to relive the majesty of the Yukon River and take in the vista. Do not miss the riverboat "graveyard". The time will pass all too quickly!
